Do I have recourse

Hello, I purchased my house in September of 2005. As I had lived in the house for a year and a half I felt I knew the house well enough and agreed to purchase "AS IS". I purchased the house it was listed as 1800 sq ft. The house in 2000 sq ft. I need to do some electrical work and roofing. In surveying the work I want to get the addition plans before proceeding. Apparently there was never a permit pulled to do the addition. The work apparently was performed by the owner previous to the party...
