I am a joint owner on a property in California. My name is not on the loan. The other owner would like to refinance. He tells me that I would not be responsible for the new loan. Is this true. Before signing any documents I would like to be comfortable knowing I would not be responsible if for any reason he does not or cannot make the payments.
