My elderly mother sold a house she owned and carried the mortgage and received the payments from it. She is now 86 and has moderate alzheimers and the house has been paid off. What do I need to do to finalize the paperwork? I have POA and can help her with it.

If the mortgage is now paid off, it sounds like she would do a release of the mortgage to the buyer. You should consult with an attorney and have the attorney verify what needs to be done and prepare the appropriate documents.
