Hi, I have a question. My father bought a house in Valley Stream, New York. He has been paying the mortgage payments for a few years till 2 months ago when he has passed away. We, his children, do not want the house and want to stop paying the mortgage payments. What can we do to leave the house?

Sell it, so that you can move on. Some questions to consider: What's the value versus the payoff? Was there a will? Have you contacted the Lender yet? Depending on the 1st question, above, they may just take it back as a deed in lieu of foreclosure. I'm not in NY, but I know realtors there. Let me know if you need someone local to help you sell it (visit www.TinaVliet.com for contact information).
Good luck,
